Are Whirlpool Washing Machines Good? Review

Are Whirlpool washing machines reliable?

Generally, Whirlpool washing machines are reliable thanks to their 2-year warranty and up to 10-year parts guarantee. They offer various features to help owners have a more energy-efficient wash day.

They work hard to ensure convenience in every wash, from adjustable wash cycles to choosing between cold and hot washes to tackle tough stains. They’re known to get rid of pesky allergens and dust mites that may still be found on clothes too. Whirlpool also handles germs with ease thanks to their adjustable features and wash modes.

Although Whirlpool claims to have a life expectancy of around 10 years, some customers may think otherwise with their performance. Some more expensive models may have parts that become faulty thanks to extended use, so that is something to consider before spending.

And more affordable models may also have speed efficiency concerns, which could worsen over time as washing machines get older. So yes, Whirlpool washing machines are reliable because they offer a range of innovative features and efficiency.

But different aspects of these appliances may let down customers if they don’t complete regular maintenance. And owners need to ensure the machine is kept clean.

How long does a Whirlpool washing machine last?

Whirlpool washing machines generally last a long time. Most models have a life expectancy of 8 to 12 years. Whirlpool even provides customers with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty and a 10-year parts guarantee in case something needs fixing during ownership.

When owning a Whirlpool washing machine, customers will need to ensure standard maintenance is also carried out regularly. For example, extensively cleaning the inside of the washing machine to help prevent damage to the appliance. It will also help keep clothes clean and prevent unwanted odours or mildew from forming.

Whirlpool customers have had different experiences regarding the longevity of the appliance. Some have seen their washing machine break down within a few months of purchase due to certain parts needing fixing.

While others have had no issues with years of reliable usage. This is especially true for customers who are using the washing machines every day for items like children’s clothing.

There may also be an option to add an extended warranty, depending on the retailer the appliance came from. So I suggest looking into these options before purchasing.

Energy rating

Whirlpool washing machine models have a range of impressive energy ratings, depending on how much they cost and what features they include. Back in 2021, there was a change to the energy labels and how appliances are looked at and is now using a scale from the letters A to G.

I was comparing some popular Whirlpool washing machines and found out they had great energy efficiencies. For example, the Whirlpool W8 W946WR UK has an energy rating of A. This means it was super energy efficient.

And customers may look for it when thinking about their carbon footprint, as not as much energy is being used as other models.

Another model was the Whirlpool FreshCare FFB 7438 WV UK. This energy rating was on the other side of the scale coming in at D. Generally, low energy efficiencies also come with a lower price tag. If customers don’t mind this, the features and design can still be popular selling points.

Included features

Whirlpool washing machines and dryers have an excellent range of features, depending on what the customer is looking for. Some common features were their spinning ability and efficiency. Some models have faster spins per minute, which can help to tackle those stains that are difficult to remove.

Other features include Whirlpool models with a ‘6th sense technology.’ This is an advanced feature for newer models as it allows the washing machine to adapt its energy depending on the load.

This is proven to help with cleaning and can even continue to promote a streamlined performance for each washing cycle.

Different appliances may also have an allergy sensitivity setting. For example, if the customer has a sensitivity to dust, pollen and other irritants. The washing machine will perform at a higher temperature and have extra rinses to ensure those allergens are gone.

Each model will also have a different noise level spin. As washing machines are usually loud, you can choose a spin cycle that is quieter for a more silent wash.

More features can include their varying spin speeds to suit the customer’s needs. And the ability to have a quick wash setting that will finish in under an hour.

Styles

The washing machines have a sleek and streamlined design. They are usually freestanding appliances and come in either white or silver colours. Some newer designs will have either an LCD or big-digit display, depending on what the potential buyer is looking for.

In addition to washing machines, Whirlpool customers have a range of other appliances, including dryers and washer dryers, to choose from. These generally will have adjustable feet and allow choosing between warm and cold cycles.

The height of each washing machine is roughly the same at approximately 84.5 cm. However, the depth and width vary if one model has a greater washing capacity than the other. It’s also good to note which styles stand out, as customers should ensure their favourites can fit in the home.

Clothing volume

Whirlpool models have average capacities for clothes, ranging from 7 kg to 10 kg. The larger volumes may be the ideal washing environment for regular washing customers. For those who are consistent and want to get more done more quickly.

In addition, customers may think that because these volumes are large, they can wash light and dark colours together without the risk of the colour running. However, some appliances claim they can successfully wash mixed-coloured loads without the dark colours transferring due to low-temperature cycles.

I suggest sticking to separating colours before washing to avoid colour runs, especially on clothes you’ve not washed before. This way you can have a more precise and enjoyable washing experience each time.

What do customers say about Whirlpool washing machines?

From looking into customer reviews, there is a mixed response regarding Whirlpool appliances. Generally, people are not completely satisfied with their orders. They have found the customer service team to be helpful. But some engineer visits to complete repairs have not been as reliable.

Additionally, some washing machine repairs didn’t happen on the day they were supposed to. This causes inconveniences, as some customers have had to wait days for their services. In contrast, other customers seem to have no complaints as the washing machines have a swift installation, and the customer service was knowledgeable and reassuring.

And for those that did have parts that needed fixing, they found this process simple to arrange and handle within a short time frame from when they first brought up the issue.
