Were you wondering how to make quartz floor tiles shine and why they lose their shine in the first place?
Well, you’ve come to the right place because that’s exactly what I’ll be covering in this post, so, let’s jump straight into this!
Why do quartz floor tiles lose their shine?
Quartz tiles lose their shine because their polish is not permanent. So if the quartz tiles aren’t cleaned and polished properly on a consistent basis or it’s been damaged, the tiles will lose their shine.
When quartz loses its shine and glamour, it typically results in lighter colored spots in certain areas (it almost looks like there are portions that are bleached). When damage like this happens, as mentioned earlier, it’s difficult to clean because of quartz’s polished finish (it’s not like marble where the surface can be reshined).
When a quartz floor tile has been damaged or lost its shine, the impact is on the coloring dyes and resins within the quartz tiles. This is also part of the reason that quartz tiles cannot be reshined because the inner dyes have been affected.
If you have a stain or scratch on your quartz tile it is possible to repair them, however we do not recommend doing this at home if this is what you are looking to do. We recommend getting professional help if you’re looking to refinish your quartz tiles.
You’ll essentially be giving the tiles a new finish, something that was previously completed in a factory. You’ll be able to take out the stains and scratches from the quartz, however this will be a lengthy process and shouldn’t be your first resort.
It’s harder to do this with quartz than marble (you won’t be able to use marble polishing powder to remove any stains or scratches on quartz).
Quartz floor tiles can also lose their shine depending on which products you use when cleaning the tiles (watch out for cleaners with ammonia or bleach in them). We recommend using a specifically designed quartz cleaner and shiner, this way, you know all the ingredients are there to help your quartz look better.
How to shine quartz floor tiles
Make your quartz floor tiles shine by using a specifically made quartz cleaner and polisher. Use this consistently to maintain the shine.
If you don’t have a quartz shiner on hand, use water and soap as a last resort only. As water and soap is not designed to shine quartz.
Be careful because quartz tiles can become slippery after cleaning them since they are non-porous!
With good maintenance of quartz tiles, they will shine every day. This means cleaning up spills as soon as they happen (some spills can cause stains on lighter quartz tiles, like wine or coffee). But if the spill is cleaned up then the tiles will not stain (and in general quartz is pretty stain resistant).
Do not use harsh cleaners with bleach or ammonia on your quartz tiles (there are many quartz floor cleaners available, just make sure to check the ingredients before using them!).
If these acidic ingredients do come into contact with the quartz tiles, wash them with water and remove the harsh ingredients. To remove any long-lasting stains, we recommend using an adhesive cleaner (this should remove the stain).
You can also use a home-made solution of water and vinegar (1 part vinegar to 3 parts warm water) to remove long-lasting stains like coffee or wine. Also avoid throwing any heavy objects or excessive force because quartz tiles can crack if there’s excessive force used.
