Can You Put Quartz Countertops in a Mobile Home? [Answered]

Can you put quartz countertops in a mobile home? Yes, you can use quartz countertops in your mobile home. Quartz countertops are a great addition to any home and have numerous advantages over other countertop options. Quartz is nonporous, heatproof, scratch, stain resistant, doesn’t require sealing, is unique from slab to slab, and has numerous colour options.. The only downsides to quartz countertops are the hefty price tag and its weight.

What should I look for in a countertop for my mobile home?

When you’re looking for a countertop that will work best in your mobile home, there are many things to consider.

Material

You have many options when it comes to the material you can use for your mobile home. You’ve got the classic wood, which has numerous options with the various types of wood available.

Great stone countertops like quartz or granite. Stainless steel and solid-surface countertops for a more minimalist approach. Tile if you’re looking to have specific pattern elements incorporated into your mobile home. For some, going with a simple laminate is good enough for their mobile home.

It all comes down to personal preference regarding design and where you land on the various other decision-making aspects of countertops in your mobile home.

Weight

Weight is a rather important factor in the decision-making process. If your mobile home intends to be mobile often, then having a heavy-weighted material weighing you down is likely not going to help make the trip easy. The heavier the load, the more fuel consumed, the harder it is to traverse inclines, meaning you’ll be adding on additional costs that you probably didn’t even consider at the time.

Durability

Everyone should want to invest in a countertop that can handle a bit of road tripping. If you’re looking for durability, the three most durable options are; quartz, granite, and laminate.

With sealing, most countertops can be considered relatively durable, but it goes further than that in some cases. For example, different woods have different life expectancies, so you’d need to consider that. Other options like tiles can damage easily in mobile homes. In some cases, countertops like steel, and wood, are susceptible to damages through usage.

Price

Price is a significant driver of people’s decisions when it comes to purchasing countertops. With every option available to you, the price varies, and some options are costly.

Here are some of the prices you’d potentially be looking at for various types of countertops.

  • Wood – Average of $65 per sq. ft.
  • Laminate – Average of between $15 – $30
  • Ceramic Tiles – Average of between $20 – $70
  • Stainless Steel – Average of $120 per sq. ft.
  • Granite – Average of $60 per sq. ft.
  • Quartz – Average of between $50 – $65

How to install the countertop

To install a new countertop in your mobile home, you’ll need to follow these steps;

Step One: Evaluate the condition of your mobile home’s existing cabinets and walls. You need to determine if repairs are in order and ensure they will match the incoming countertop.

Step Two: Using some construction-grade glue, you’re going to run a small dotted line over the cabinet. This will help when placing the countertop to make sure that all the parts stay on top of that dotted glue.

Step Three: Confirm the countertops are fixed in place and that the constructions are aligned with your home’s cabinets. Screw the countertop into the cabinet and tighten the screws in place once you’ve confirmed it’s adequately attached to the bottom.

Step Four:  Reinstall the sink, taps, faucets using a silicone sealant. Finally, caulk the backsplash edges and, using your fingers, smooth the edges.
